School of Design (IDS), Indus University along with the Indus Sustainable, Smart Cities Center (ISSCC) responded to the call of World Design Organisation (WDO) to observe the World Industrial Design Day marked on June 29, 2019. Indus University had an inclusive event to observe the World Industrial Design Day under the theme “Sustainability by Design”. As part of this event, Indus University jointly with Lumium a US-based International Design Services Company and the Gujarat Council of Science and Technology (GUJCOST), Government of Gujarat conducted a Student Design Contest and organized an International Seminar on August 1, 2019. This seminar was hosted at Indus University Campus. 
Mr. Srini R. Srinivasan, the President-Elect of the World Design Organization was the Chief Guest and Prof. Pradyuman Vyas, the former Director of NID was the Guest of Honour of the event. 
There was active participation from the students of Amrita Vidyalayam in the Design Contest in the category of essays, doodle and drawings. Saishweta M of IX Gargi from our school received a prize in the doodle category. 
15 students from our school attended the seminar. There were experts in the field of design and sustainability, whose talks were well received by the students. Three students from our school were given an opportunity to present their perspectives on sustainability and design on the platform. Krishna Rathod and Anupam Bawa from XI Aryabhatta presented on Smart Cities with sustainable initiatives; Saishweta M from IX Gargi presented on UN Sustainable Development Goals (UN SDGs) coupled with an original song on Water conservation, which attracted the appreciation of the dignitaries and audience. Both the presentations from students of Amrita Vidyalayam, won Appreciation Certificates. This one day seminar was a good exposure to students.
